Job description

Position Overview

Transdev is hiring a Second Shift Diesel Mechanic for our shop serving the City of Thornton, Colorado. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. Shift schedule: Monday - Thursday, 1:00 pm – 11:30 pm. Application deadline: 04/30/2026.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base pay: $30.00 – $50.00 per hour
  • Additional $0.10 per hour for each ASE certification earned
  • Vacation: minimum of two weeks
  • Sick days: five days
  • Holidays: 12 days (8 standard, 4 floating)
  • Other benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, voluntary long‑term disability; company‑paid ASE testing and training materials
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment systems including brakes, suspensions, engines, drivetrains, transmissions, and other components
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • At least 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or a combination of technical school education and experience
  • Possess a mechanic’s tool set
  • ASE certifications preferred; must be willing to participate in company ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided)
  • Subject to DOT drug testing; no use of Schedule I drugs including marijuana
Physical Requirements
  • Work outside in varying temperatures, weather, and humidity; perform 100 % of job outside, alone or in remote locations
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); walk long distances, navigate sloped ground or uneven surfaces
  • Push, pull, lift objects up to 50 lbs; bend, kneel, or crouch for items at ground level
  • Endure heavy traffic, dust, vehicle fumes, and noise
