Job summary

Transdev in San Marcos, Texas is seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across a range of vehicles. You will perform diagnostics with advanced tools, complete routine maintenance, and assist senior technicians to keep our fleet safe and reliable.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a diesel technician with diagnosing and repairing diesel engines
• Strong leadership and ability to motivate a team
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail
• Class B CDL with passenger endorsement (or within 3 months of hire)
• ASE certification preferred; participate in ASE testing within 1 year
• DOT drug testing compliance as applicable

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic tests using advanced tools and software to troubleshoot diesel engine issues
• Perform moderate repairs and replacements on diesel engine components
• Assist A-Level mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks
• Execute routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and optimize engine performance
• Lead diagnostic tests to identify complex issues and determine repair strategies
• Perform advanced troubleshooting including overhauling and rebuilding components
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians
• Other duties as required

Diesel Mechanic

Transdev in San Marcos, Texas is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This role demands expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our vehicles.

Transdev is proud to offer:

• Competitive compensation package of $28.00/hr to $29.00/hr

Benefits include:

• Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks
• Sick days: 5 days
• Holidays: 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct diagnostic tests using advanced tools and software to troubleshoot diesel engine issues

• Assist A-Level mechanics in advanced diagnostic and repair tasks, contributing to efficient workflow.
• Execute routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize diesel engine performance.
• Lead diagnostic tests to accurately identify complex issues and determine comprehensive repair strategies for diesel engines.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on diesel engines, including overhauling and rebuilding components to required specifications.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, assisting them in developing their skills and knowledge
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ of experience as a diesel technician, with demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Class B CDL with passenger endorsement (or expected within 3 months of hire).
• ASE Certification preferred. Must participate in ASE testing program within 1 year (expected to have 3 ASE certifications within 12 months of hire
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
• Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
