Job summary

R+L Carriers is seeking a Diesel Mechanic at our Kearny, NJ Service Center to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Class 8 trucks, trailers, and related equipment. The role requires hands-on technical skills, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and owning your tools.

The position is full-time, Monday–Friday, 2nd shift (1:00pm–11:30pm). Compensation ranges from $36.93 to $42.93 per hour, with benefits including PTO, health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid vacation, and travel lodging

Qualifications

• Experience in preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel engines.
• Must be able to handle major repairs.
• Experience with AC and Electrical.
• Have the ability to lift 50lbs.
• Must have own tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day equipment maintenance on fleet vehicles and trailers.
• Handle preventive maintenance and repairs from minor to major on Class 8 trucks and forklifts where applicable.
• Maintain equipment to support operations and safety standards at the Kearny, NJ service center.

R+L Carriers has an immediate opportunity for Diesel Mechanics at our Kearny, NJ Service Center. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for day-to-day equipment maintenance on our fleet equipment consisting of preventative maintenance and minor to major repairs to Class 8 trucks, trailers, and potentially forklifts. This can include maintaining trailers, overhead doors, lift gates, dollies, welding depending on location.

Requirements

• Experience in preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel engines
• Must be able to handle major repairs
• Experience with AC and Electrical
• Have the ability to lift 50lbs
• Must have own tools

Preferred

• 2+ Years of Diesel Mechanic experience preferred
• Experience in preventive maintenance of Cummins & Detroit engines
• Experience using Cetaris used for work orders
• Experience in Trailer PMs and repairs
