Job description

Diesel Mechanic (Maintenance)

Performs basic diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned heavy construction and/or agricultural and turf equipment. May require some guidance from the Service Manager, Shop Foreman, or senior technicians.

Job Duties

1. Performs diagnostics and reports on construction and/or agricultural equipment and Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products.
2. Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs to develop skills and knowledge.
3. Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
4. Maintains the condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
5. Follows all safety rules and regulations during work assignments.
6. Completes reports and forms related to work assignments.
7. Accounts for all time in the timekeeping systems and for all materials used.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

1. 3+ years of experience in service repairs on heavy construction and/or agricultural equipment.
2. Ability to perform basic and advanced repairs using special tools and following Technical Manual Procedures.
3. Proficient in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in equipment repair.
4. Ability to use Service Advisor software and basic computer functions.
5. Ability to operate diagnostic vehicles and equipment.
6. Proficient oral and written communication skills.
7. Ability to lift at least 75 lbs repeatedly.
8. Basic Service Technician certification preferred.
9. High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred.
10. Valid driver’s license required.
11. Forklift license preferred.
