Immediately hiring a Permanent Full-Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Hartford, Connecticut.

  • Hourly Pay: $25.25 per hour
  • Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter
  • Sign-On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
  • Toolbox/Tool Allowance
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends off
  • Hours: Second shift, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational/technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance such as oil changes, brake, and tire work
  • Two or more years of relevant classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee, you must:
    • Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
    • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Conduct standard vehicle inspections and repairs
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools
  • Identify root causes and perform repairs
  • Replace defective components
  • Support facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine issues
  • Use shop management systems and electronic documentation
  • Follow all safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines
  • Support operations as needed, including service island support
