Job summary

StreamTech Industrial in Geismar, LA is seeking a Diesel Mechanic with at least 2 years of experience in inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing trucks and stationary equipment. The role combines shop foreman and field mechanic duties, with strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and problem solving.

Qualified candidates will have diesel engine, hydraulics and pneumatics experience, and an ability to work in varied conditions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing trucks and stationary equipment.
  • Experience with diesel and gas engines, hydraulics and pneumatics pumps and motors.
  • ASE and/or OEM certifications are a plus.
  • CDL license preferred; Class A/B preferred; license required at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in accordance with company safety policies and regulations.
  • Complete maintenance tasks based on driver inspections or maintenance manager directions.
  • Maintain diesel equipment by inspections and preventive maintenance; correct issues as needed.
  • Repair equipment in adverse conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, snow).
  • Build and assemble machines or components per requirements.
  • Troubleshoot problems and resolve promptly; log all work and procedures.
  • Perform lockout/tagout procedures and test diagnostics; test drive when needed.
  • Ensure reliability and safety of equipment operators; participate in training and drills.

Position Summary

The Diesel Mechanic maintains diesel equipment, completes inspections and preventive maintenance requirements , corrects vehicle deficiencies , and maintains records to ensure we are able to keep our level of commitment to safety and customer service.

The candidate must have a minimum of 2-years experience inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing trucks and stationary equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective listening and problem-solving skills. It is also important that the candidate has demonstrated the ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment. Experienced in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics and pneumatics pumps and motors. Looking for the person to fill this role to be a hybrid between shop foreman and a field mechanic

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs all job duties in accordance with company safety policies and regulations.
  • Performs maintenance tasks based on driver pre and post trip inspections in a timely manner or as directed by maintenance manager.
  • Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements and makes appropriate corrections when needed.
  • Works in adverse conditions at times including heat, cold, wind, rain and snow to repair equipment and vehicles.
  • Builds and assembles machines or mechanical components according to requirements.
  • ASE and/or OEM certifications are a plus
  • Troubleshoots reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Maintainsall relevant records for all work and procedures and reports on issues.
  • Performsaccurate lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Runs diagnostic tests on vehicles and analyzes the results to problem solve;test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions when necessary.
  • Perform any and all necessary procedures to ensure maximum reliability and the safety of the equipment operatorincluding, performing preventative maintenance inspections, tire changes, changes of breaks and any other utilities that are part of the vehicle;builds, rebuilds, and replaceshydraulic components and hoses of any vehicle or stationary equipment.
  • Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales and services and performs any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and/or abide by our core values.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Valid Class A or B Driver's License preferred, minimum Class E-Chauffeur's license
  • If CDL licensed at least 2+ years required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a diesel mechanic preferred
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass a physical, drug testing and background
