Job Description: Diesel Mechanic
hth companies, inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The role involves inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of motor vehicle equipment, including cars, trucks, and semis. The position reports to the shop in Anamosa, Iowa, with occasional travel within a three-hour radius.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Maintain a fleet of vehicles and equipment, including industrial trucks, vacuum trucks, and other motor vehicles.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance such as oil changes and tune-ups.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using visual inspection and diagnostic equipment.
- Repair or replace malfunctioning parts, including brakes, belts, water pumps, and transmissions.
- Plan repair schedules and visit job sites within the designated radius.
- Test drive vehicles to ensure proper operation.
- Manage parts inventory and submit purchase orders as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with experience in vacuum trucks or water blasters preferred.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Understanding of safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Physical and Work Environment
- Lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Climb ladders and stairs regularly.
- Use hand and power tools safely.
- Work in a high-paced environment, often with overtime and irregular hours.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of OSHA 10-hour training within 60 days of employment.
