Job summary

Red Classic is hiring a Diesel Maintenance Technician (B) to repair and maintain diesel-powered equipment, trailers, and material handling systems. The role requires independent work with supervision and mentoring support for junior technicians.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of relevant work experience.
• DOT Brake Inspection certification.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical certificate.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, mechanical diagnostic and repair of customer vehicles and equipment.
• Repair drive chains and automatic brake systems.
• Maintain accurate parts inventory and report discrepancies.
• Keep work area clean and safe.
• Work in the maintenance software system to record data and ensure DOT compliance.
• Mentor Vehicle Technicians C as needed.

• Pay rate: $28.50 - $33.00, based on skillset and experience (additional $1.50 shift differential)

Diesel Maintenance Technician (B)

Job Overview

Vehicle Technician B will repair and maintain all types of customer vehicles and equipment, including material handling, trailers, and diesel-powered equipment; perform job duties independently with limited supervision; provide mentoring and assistance to Vehicle Technician C's as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform electrical, mechanical diagnostic, and repair of customer vehicles and equipment, including material handling, trailers, and diesel-powered equipment.
• Perform various forms of equipment repair such as drive chain components, automatic brake systems, etc.
• Maintain accurate parts inventory, research, resolve all inventory discrepancies, and notify maintenance management when resolution not available.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and warehouse.
• Perform other tasks as determined and requested by management.
• Work in the Maintenance software system to record data, ensure DOT compliance, and follow-up on return orders.
• Serve as a mentor for Vehicle Technicians C, as needed; may perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Basic welding and cutting torch operation skills.
• Basic electrical, mechanical diagnostics, and repair skills.
• Understanding of tire inflation systems.
• Knowledge and ability to mount and dismount tires.
• Basic diagnostic tool skills.
• Ability to schedule and prioritize daily tasks.
• Must adhere to company uniform and appearance standards.
• Professional and appropriate interaction with internal and external customers.
• Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions for tools, equipment, machinery, and materials used to power, hand, diagnostic tools, operating material handling equipment.
• Must be capable of driving company equipment including class 8 tractors.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule and vary start and finish times, possibly including weekends and holidays.
• Basic computer skills.
• Each technician needs to provide their own tools.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge acquired through 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
• D.O.T. Brake Inspection certification.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical certificate.
