Job summary

The City of Sioux Falls is seeking a Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining gas/diesel engines and heavy equipment used in construction, agriculture, and transportation. Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, thorough inspections, and following manuals to ensure proper repair procedures; testing of all repaired items will be performed.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with diesel engine systems and knowledge of different engine types.
• Proficiency in reading/interpreting technical manuals, schematics, blueprints/diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail under pressure.
