Job summary

SDAC is seeking an experienced Diesel & Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair heavy construction equipment, commercial trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles. This hands-on role supports operations through preventive maintenance and repairs in both shop and field settings.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of experience, with strong knowledge of engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems, plus diagnostics proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' experience in diesel/heavy equipment maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems.
• Experience with heavy construction equipment and heavy-duty trucks.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and software (scan tools, engine analyzers).
• Ability to troubleshoot and work independently.
• Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• CDL Class A or B plus ASE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, differentials, and other powertrain components.
• Maintain and repair heavy equipment, commercial trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including pumps, starters, alternators, sensors, and wiring.
• Inspect and repair brakes, steering, and suspension systems.
• Complete preventive maintenance, including fluid changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and system checks.
• Perform DOT inspections as qualified and address vehicle maintenance issues.
• Perform welding and fabrication as needed for repairs and modifications.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform repairs at job sites.
• Follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and required protective equipment, and properly handle oil, coolant, fuel, and other materials.
