Job summary

Central Power Systems & Services is seeking a Critical Power Technician in Oklahoma City, OK. You will service emergency standby generators, ATS, switchgear, and related accessories with a 7AM–4PM shift and occasional field work requiring extended hours.

You should have some generator experience and a desire to grow your skills, with opportunities to work with CAT, Kohler, and Cummins equipment across industrial settings.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to be on-call and work overtime.
  • Willingness to travel overnight.
  • 2+ years with high-voltage generator maintenance (CAT, Kohler, Cummins).
  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge of diesel-powered generators.
  • 3+ years generator maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical school background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of critical power systems installation, start-up and commissioning.
  • Perform diagnostic and repair procedures on PLCs, AC/DC, and switchgear.
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance on generators, engines, and transfer switches.
  • Coordinate with installing electrical contractors.
  • Oversee issue correction from commissioning.
  • Familiarity with off-site work and mining company environments.
  • Test and troubleshoot various sized generators.

We live that statement every single day. We are looking for a Critical Power Technician to help support that mission.

Job Summary

We service all brands of emergency standby generators, as well as automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and other related accessories. The normal working shift is 7AM to 4PM. However, there may be occasions when field work is required and this may necessitate extended hours.

Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have some degree of prior experience with generator sets, diesel & gaseous engines, and industrial / commercial electrical distribution. However, more importantly,we are looking for technicians who want to grow their skills.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of critical power systems installation, start-up and commissioning.
  • Perform diagnostic and repair procedures on all systems including PLCs, AC/DC, and switch gears.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on electric power generation equipment including gas and diesel engines, generators, and transfer switches.
  • Coordination with installing electrical contractors.
  • Oversee correction of issues arising from commissioning.
  • Become familiar with working off-site and with mining companies.
  • Testing and troubleshooting various sized generators.

QualificationsQualifications
  • Flexibility and willingness to be On-Call, and able to work Overtime on occasion
  • Willingness and Ability to Travel Overnight
  • 2 Yearsexperience with higher voltage Generator Maintenance (CAT, Kohler, Cummins equipment)
  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge of diesel-powered generators
  • Diagnostic Skills
  • 3+ Years Exp. Generator Maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from a Technical School preferred
  • AAS Electrical Power Generator Tech a big Plus
  • Military Experience is a Plus
WORK CONDITIONS

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels.
