Job summary

Central Power Systems & Services in Missouri is seeking a Critical Power Technician to service emergency generators, transfer switches, and switchgear. The role includes field service responsibilities, start-up, commissioning, and on-call overtime as needed.

Ideal candidates have generator maintenance experience (CAT, Kohler, Cummins), diesel and gas engines, and knowledge of electrical distribution. A technical diploma is preferred; willingness to travel overnight and work flexible hours is

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical degree preferred (AAS Electrical Power Generator Tech).
• Graduation from a technical school is preferred.
• 2+ years of higher voltage generator maintenance experience.
• 3+ years generator maintenance experience.
• Military experience is a plus.
• Ability to travel overnight and be on-call.

Responsibilities

• Install, start-up and commission critical power systems.
• Diagnose and repair PLCs, AC/DC and switchgear.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on generators, engines and transfer switches.
• Coordinate with electrical contractors.
• Oversee commissioning issues and post-install corrections.
• Work in field with mining customers as needed.

We are looking for a Critical Power Technician to help support that mission.Job SummaryWe service all brands of emergency standby generators, as well as automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and other related accessories. The normal working shift is 7AM to 4PM. However, with field service, the opportunity for overtime is common. A candidate should be willing and able to work overtime as needed. Once a technician has proved capable of working in the field solo, they will be part of our rotating after-hours on-call calendar.Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have some degree of prior experience with generator sets, diesel & gaseous engines, and industrial / commercial electrical distribution.
