Job summary

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings, LLC is seeking a Diesel Generator Mechanic to support the Maui Space Surveillance operations under MBSS. The role involves maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel genset systems across multiple sites on Maui, including after-hours emergencies and standby power readiness.

The candidate will interpret wiring diagrams, perform scheduled maintenance, and ensure compliance with DoD, AFI, and OSHA standards while coordinating with electrical and mechanical teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining diesel generator systems up to 1MW.
• Experience with Cummins, Caterpillar, or Kohler generator systems.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Ability to work after-hours, weekends, and holidays for emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair diesel power generation systems and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions such as startup failures, fuel or control faults, and voltage regulation issues.
• Replace or repair worn components (injectors, alternators, sensors, wiring harnesses) and verify system performance after repairs.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance in accordance with OEM standards and MBSS program.
• Perform operational testing, load testing, and system inspections (fluids, filters, batteries, heaters, exhaust, control panels).
• Record inspections, maintenance actions, performance metrics, and outage reports per PWS requirements.
• Ensure compliance with environmental requirements for fuel storage, containment, spill prevention, and waste disposal.
