Job summary

HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC CO. in Kahului– Maui seeks a Diesel Maintenance Mechanic (Non-Exempt) to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of medium and heavy diesel engines, plus related equipment.

You will assist with steam plant equipment as required and work from blueprints and instructions. Requirements include completion of an apprentice program or equivalent training, plus the ability to read plans and use precision tools.

Qualifications

• Graduate of applicable Apprentice Program or equivalent training.
• Company Written Job Knowledge Test.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and manufacturer's instructions for maintenance tasks.
• Perform maintenance, installation and fault analysis on diesel engines and related equipment.
• Diagnose faults in engines, governors, fuel, cooling and lubrication systems.
• Start diesel engines for maintenance and identify parts for replacement orders.
• Assist in mechanical maintenance of steam plant equipment as required.
• Use hand and power tools and precision instruments; weld and pipefit as needed.
