Job summary

Hawaiian Electric is seeking a Diesel Maintenance Mechanic for Kahului, Maui. The role involves maintenance, trouble analysis, and installation of medium and heavy diesel engines, as well as related auxiliary equipment and controls.

The position requires apprentice training or equivalent, with opportunities to work on steam plant equipment and participate in emergency management when needed. Work schedule is Mon-Fri, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Graduate of applicable Apprentice Program or equivalent training.
• Company Written Job Knowledge Test.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, trouble analysis, and installation of medium and heavy diesel engines.
• Assists in maintenance of steam plant equipment.
• Reads blueprints and manufacturer's instructions; follows written or oral directions.
• Performs fault analysis of engines, governors, fuel, cooling and L.O. systems.
• Uses precision tools and shop equipment, including micrometers and gauges.
• Does concrete work and installations for capital projects.
• Performs general maintenance on fences, buildings and structures; engages in welding, cutting, and pipefitting.
