Job summary

FedEx Freight in New Jersey is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, and forklifts. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs, with opportunities for growth through ASE certifications and tuition reimbursement.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant vehicle maintenance experience or apprenticeship, and the ability to lift heavy components. On-site work with opportunities for shift differential pay.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
One year of vehicle maintenance experience or completion of a vehicle maintenance certificate/Apprentice Program.
One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks.
Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools for troubleshooting and repairs.
Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred.
Able to lift components weighing ~110 pounds with assistance.
Ability to operate trucks with manual and automatic transmission.
Ability to enter/exit driver’s compartment safely.
Paint and body work experience preferred.
Ability to work independently or in a team.
Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and adjust equipment for safe operation.
Works with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
Documents maintenance and completes reports in writing and electronically.
Performs safety inspections and documents findings.
Performs paint and body work as required.
Complies with laws, regulations, and company procedures.
Performs other duties as required.
