Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our diesel fleet, including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and complete documentation to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of vehicle maintenance experience or completion of the FedEx Freight Apprentice Program, and ASE certifications with CDL-A preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of vehicle maintenance experience or near completion of FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges, and tools for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred.
• Able to lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with assistance.
• Able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify causes and makes adjustments for safe operation.
• Collaborates with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
• Documents all maintenance in reports, written and electronic.
• Conducts safety inspections and documents findings.
• Performs paint and body work as required.
• Complies with laws, regulations, and company policies.
