Job summary

North American Transportation Management Institute is seeking an experienced fleet maintenance technician to provide preventive maintenance, reliable inspections, and expert diagnostics to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life.

You will diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, electrics, and other components, per OEM specs, while documenting work and staying compliant with DOT regulations. A valid license and various certifications are required or preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2-year school and 1 year of experience or 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair.
  • Current and valid driver’s license.
  • Annual Inspector Certification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Brake Inspector Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • ASE certifications; Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks (Preferred, Not Required)
  • 609 HVAC Certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances.
  • Perform FAI/CVI inspections on fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, dollies, and light-duty vehicles per regulations.
  • Perform quality maintenance repairs to maximize safety and reliability of fleet vehicles.
  • Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports timely and efficiently.
  • Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specs (engines, transmissions, etc.).
  • Follow procedures and document all work on work orders.
  • Learn and develop efficiency in Sysco computer programs.
  • Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as needed.
