Job summary

Smyrna Ready Mix, LLC, a national leader in ready mix concrete, is seeking Fleet Mechanics to maintain our fleet of mixer trucks and heavy equipment in Smyrna, TN. This role welcomes entry-level candidates and offers on-the-job training to start a rewarding career in fleet maintenance.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, ensuring safety and reliability for on-time deliveries.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work variable shifts as needed to support fleet operations.
• On-the-job training available for those new to diesel mechanics or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, or heavy equipment technician is a plus.
• Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems is preferred.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment; willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment, including oil changes, lubrications, and filter replacements.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in mixer trucks, loaders, dump trucks, tankers, and other heavy equipment.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
• Rebuild, replace, or repair major components such as engine heads, blocks, starters, and transmissions.
• Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and repairs, minimizing downtime.
• Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures in the workshop and on job sites.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair work using company systems.
• Stay updated on the latest diesel engine technology and repair techniques through ongoing learning.
