We are hiring experienced diesel fleet mechanics to work on-site in Rensselaer, NY. Join a team owned by family farmers. Our fleet maintenance technicians play a critical role in ensuring our trucks are in top condition for our delivery drivers, supporting the processing, bottling, and delivery of milk from family farms.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Perform truck and trailer maintenance and repairs with minimal support, ensuring equipment is available and in optimal condition. Work with other mechanics or supervisors on complex repairs. Operate independently, exercising judgment and discretion.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance, component replacements, and repairs
  • Maintain, repair, and inspect brakes, steering, suspension, lights, air conditioning, fluid levels, transmissions, tires, chassis, drive lines, batteries, and other equipment
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Use shop management and electronic systems
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools
  • Identify root causes and perform repairs
  • Interact with drivers to determine issues
  • Follow safety and compliance guidelines (e.g., DOT)
  • Complete work orders and documentation accurately and timely
  • Respond to vehicle issues and accidents
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Assist and mentor less experienced mechanics
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2-4 years of mechanic or maintenance experience
  • Relevant certifications/licenses (e.g., mechanic certification, CDL, refrigeration license) preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Engine, ABS, transmission, and diagnostic equipment skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Understanding of DOT regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret inspection reports
  • Operate tools and equipment
  • Work independently and in a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
