Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Mechanic B in Memphis, TN to perform preventative maintenance and in-depth repairs on our fleet. You will diagnose engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, conduct major repairs, and maintain thorough service records.

You will mentor C level mechanics and ensure work aligns with branch, regional, and national standards. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and quality workmanship within Herc Rentals’ operations.

Qualifications

• Must have 2 years of heavy equipment repair experience.
• Owns a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete repairs.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent preventative maintenance schedule for all Herc-owned fleet at the branch.
• Operate and test equipment to ensure it meets Herc Rentals’ quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
• Perform major repairs using diagnostic tools and hand tools.
• Enter work orders and order parts via the fleet management system.
• Recondition and replace parts on heavy equipment.
• Produce timely service reports and repair logs.
• Assist in training C mechanics under shop lead guidance.
