Job summary

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Technician – Engine Specialist based in Kershaw, SC. The role centers on diagnosing and repairing large industrial diesel engines, especially Volvo 13L/16L, in the field and in the workshop, with a focus on reliability and customer satisfaction.

You will perform in-frame/out-of-frame repairs, support warranty claims, mentor junior technicians, and ensure compliant service reporting. Valid DL and MSHA readiness are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; diesel engine or heavy equipment trade qualification preferred.
• Minimum five years applying diagnostic, repair, and rebuild skills on large industrial diesel engines; Volvo 13L/16L experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with electronic engine diagnostic tools and OEM service documentation; valid driver’s license; MSHA training (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair large industrial diesel engines across the Sandvik fleet, focusing on Volvo engines.
• Perform in-frame and out-of-frame engine repairs and engine rebuilds to OEM tolerances.
• Support engine-related warranty claims and OEM communications with accurate documentation.
• Lead in-field and workshop engine work, mentoring other technicians as needed.
• Complete field service reports and time entries using Maximo and Dayforce.
