  • Location: Bradley International Airport (BDL)
  • Schedule: Operations run 24/7; schedules are based on seniority and availability
  • Required: Must possess mechanical tools and toolbox
  • Pay: $29/Hour

As a member of the Menzies Aviation Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Mechanic team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient repair and rebuilding of airport service vehicles. Responsibilities include inspecting and identifying defective or broken parts, and repairing gas/diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and repair vehicle components, including engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Hydrate electric equipment according to schedule.
  • Program and understand the functions of the Rapid Charger, Battery Monitor, and Identification Device (BMID).
  • Repair and replace tires and wheels.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual quality control checks.
  • Maintain maintenance records.
  • Drive and operate service vehicles.
  • Perform accident inspections on equipment involved in incidents.
  • Report accidents to supervisors and managers.
  • Respond to radio repair calls on the ramp.
  • Provide preventative maintenance and timely repairs to support aircraft services.
  • Operate all vehicles and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) safely, including daily equipment checks.
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with safety policies.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of mechanical experience.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Valid US driver’s license.
  • Pass pre-employment background check, physical test, and drug screen.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 70 lbs.
  • Flexible to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • Willing to perform all duties of other positions as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Airport Badge.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Must possess mechanical tools and toolbox.
  • Authorized to work in the USA.

Working Conditions

Work may be outdoors, near moving parts, high voltages, and in noisy environments. May involve high, precarious places and exposure to hazardous substances. Must have electrical, maintenance, and computer knowledge, with supervision from the Maintenance Manager.

Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling objects, reaching, climbing, and talking. Tasks may involve digging, shoveling, lifting, and stooping, with up to 70 lbs. occasionally lifted.
