Job summary

The Falkirk Mining Company is offering an internship program for students pursuing an associate or technical degree as a diesel/auto mechanic trainee. Positions run 3 months (May–Aug 2027) or 8 months (May 2027–Dec 2027).

Qualifications

• Must enroll in a diesel mechanic / automotive program and stay in good academic standing.
• Completed portion of college in the associated field and intend to complete degree.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
• Able to work rotating shifts.
• Steel-toed Shoes.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety inspections and corrections.
• Perform mechanical work on heavy equipment and small diesel engines.
• Remove and install engines and components.
• Assemble and disassemble engines, brake adjustments, repair clutches and wheel bearings.
• Perform general repairs on trucks, tractors and light vehicles.
• Perform engine tune ups and field work.
• Service, operate and test large equipment. Clean the shop.
• Work in accordance with MSHA laws and company safety procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
