Job summary

The Falkirk Mining Company invites applications for an Intern (Trainee) position designed for students pursuing an associate or technical degree. Trainees will learn to operate equipment, perform maintenance, and read blueprints to fabricate parts while adhering to MSHA and company safety rules.

Positions run for 3 months (May–Aug 2027) or 8 months (May–Dec 2027) with a startup salary of $33.20 per hour. Housing stipend and benefits are available; applicants must have a valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited welding or mechanical maintenance program in good academic standing.
• Completed a portion of college in the related field and intends to finish the degree.
• Able to work outdoors in extreme weather and tolerate rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting, routine maintenance and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on draglines, coal shovels and facilities.
• Read and understand blueprints and fabricate parts from them.
• Follow MSHA, safety procedures and environmental regulations; perform other duties as assigned.
