THE POSITION

The Chester County Maintenance Organization of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation seeks passionate individuals for the role of Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic. This role involves maintaining and repairing a fleet of construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools powered by gasoline and diesel engines. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position requires a licensed and trained automotive and heavy equipment mechanic performing analytical, preventative maintenance, and repair duties. Additional details are available in the position description.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment
• Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
• Travel, overtime, and shift work required; hours may vary seasonally
• Telework is not available for this position
• Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:

• Completion of the Commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program or equivalent, or
• Two years of journey-level mechanic experience, including one year in diesel vehicle or equipment repair, or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training

Special Requirements:

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
• Valid Medical Examiner's Certificate per FMCSA regulations

Conditions of Employment:

• Obtain and maintain necessary certifications within the probationary period
• Possess valid Pennsylvania CDL endorsements and certifications as required
• Operate vehicles with manual transmissions if applicable
• Subject to drug and alcohol testing
• Obtain tanker endorsement within probationary period

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to perform essential job functions
