Job summary

Health Systems Management seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) at its Winston-Salem dialysis center. You will set up dialysis machines, greet patients, prepare vascular access, and monitor treatments under nurse supervision.

Training is provided, with opportunities to advance as you obtain the CCHT and BLS certifications. Expect a full-time schedule, four 10-hour shifts weekly starting early morning, with every other Saturday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Must pass the Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) exam within 18 months.
• Basic Life Support certification approved by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Set up the hemodialysis machine.
• Greet patients and collect details regarding their prior treatment; report concerns to the lead nurse.
• Assist with and prepare the patient's vascular access for treatment.
• Initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis per policies and standards of care.
• Record vital signs before, during, and after treatment and document in the medical record.
• Compute and document fluid removal.
• Perform cannulation and report any difficulties to the lead nurse.
• Monitor for adverse reactions and intervene as needed.
• Check dialysis machine for malfunctions and report issues.
• Maintain infection control and PPE standards; ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Be prepared for emergencies and assist with ambulation; may involve heavy lifting.
