Job summary

Waymo LLC is seeking a Diagnostics Engineer to design and implement diagnostics infrastructure for self-driving and vehicle systems. The role combines hardware/software integration with cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, hybrid-work environment.

You will lead diagnostics development efforts, partner with experts across sensing, compute, actuators, and support systems, and help set the strategic direction for diagnostics investments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working adjacent to or developing diagnostics in automotive, aerospace, or consumer electronics.
• Hands-on experience working directly with deployed systems (HW and SW) in fast-paced environments.
• Working knowledge of object-oriented programming languages (C++, Python, etc.).
• Wide breadth of EE/CE/CS/Mech knowledge and ability to quickly learn new topics.
• Experience driving diagnostics development for a module, system, or program.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement robust diagnostics infrastructure, tooling and processes to improve troubleshooting efficiency for self-driving and base vehicle systems.
• Collaborate with SMEs on sensing, compute, actuator and support systems to guide diagnostics design and improvement.
• Lead analysis of diagnostics gaps and needs to inform future diagnostics investments.
• Evolve Waymo’s Diagnostics strategy through technical and organizational leadership.
