Job summary

Waymo is seeking an experienced automotive technician to support the Waymo Driver program in Mountain View. You will enable diagnostic specialists, drive workshop modernization, and develop service methods and resources for autonomous vehicle operations.

You will also contribute to advanced training, support engineering testing, and prototype work, including vehicle modifications as needed to advance Waymo Driver capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in an advanced automotive technician or automotive engineering role.
• Mastery of automotive diagnostic strategies and tools covering mechanical, electrical, and networking (e.g. CAN)
• Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, external partners, and executives
• Analytical skills to identify developmental opportunities and communicate them effectively
• Experience servicing electric or hybrid vehicles (high voltage qualification preferred)

Responsibilities

• Enable the experts: Equip specialist diagnostic technicians with knowledge and resources
• Evolve the workshop: Facilitate technical change management in the workshops by planning and deploying new technologies, methodologies, and resources
• Unlock service capabilities: Develop service methods, tools, and technical resources such as theory of operations
• Grow workshop competencies: Contribute to advanced technical training curriculums
• Advance Waymo Driver development: Enable engineering testing and development with consultation and hands on support
• Craft next gen technology: Execute prototype builds and exploratory vehicle modifications
