Job description

Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Computed Tomography)

Summary

The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Computed Tomography) position reports to the Radiology Service within the Memphis VA Medical Center. The role involves performing computed tomography of the head, neck, spine, chest, and body to achieve diagnostic studies for proper diagnosis and treatment. The incumbent may work variable shifts, including on-call duties, and may be required to operate different modalities.

Duties
  • Evaluate critical and emergency procedures, adjusting patient priorities accordingly.
  • Ensure availability and proper storage of sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other necessary items.
  • Monitor examinations, check computations, performances, and results to obtain optimal data and images.
  • Perform technical operation and maintenance of imaging equipment, including computers and consoles.
  • Assist in preparing procedure manuals and modifying procedures as needed.
Work Schedule

Monday-Friday with variable shifts including weekends: 7:30am-4:00pm, 8:00am-4:30pm, 4:00pm-midnight, and midnight-8:00am.

Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Successful completion of urinalysis prior to employment; refusal disqualifies.
  • Mandatory registration with Selective Service for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Subject to background/security check.
  • Participation in pre-employment and ongoing health assessments, including influenza vaccination.
Qualifications

Applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by ARRT (R). Advanced certification in CT is required for specific duties. Education must be from an accredited program, and certification must be maintained. Non-certified candidates may be considered for a limited period under specific conditions.
