Job summary

Guidehealth is seeking a Retinal Camera Operator – Eye Exam Specialist to travel to provider practices for scheduled diabetic eye exams using company imaging equipment. Full training is provided and travel is reimbursed.

This field-based role requires local residency in the Birmingham, AL area and strong attention to detail. The position emphasizes independent work, collaboration with care teams, and adherence to quality measures.

Qualifications

Willingness and ability to travel daily, up to 100%, to provider practices to perform scheduled eye exams; no prior eye exam or imaging experience required, as full training and equipment are provided by the company.
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Associate degree or greater in a related field.
Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
Knowledge of medical terminology, quality measures, medical billing, or coding.
Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, and multiple healthcare-related systems or applications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet hard deadlines.
Ability to collaborate effectively with management, co-workers, customers, providers, payers, and care teams.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

Travel up to 100% to provider practices for scheduled eye exams.
Perform diabetic eye exams using company-provided imaging equipment.
Coordinate travel logistics and confirm appointments with practices and patients.
Complete training on retinal imaging and maintain competency.
Manage daily eye exam schedule and track mileage and expenses.
Build strong relationships with care teams and partners.
