The Diabetes Educator acts as a caregiver for patients with diabetes to achieve desired health outcomes. This role involves directing and overseeing care provided by other caregivers in the inpatient setting through education, delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination. The educator is responsible for assessing and educating patients and their families in the MOLLY Diabetes Education Center in the outpatient setting. The position utilizes nursing principles by organizing, delivering, delegating, and coordinating care for assigned patients and their families.
The ideal candidate is an RN with experience in diabetes education. Certification in diabetes education is required (CDCES; Certified Diabetes Educator and Care Specialist). The role is based in a busy outpatient diabetes education center. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional evening hours. Travel to community events is expected.
