Job summary

Pilot Assessments is seeking an experienced Captain to serve as Pilot in Command for OCONUS missions. You will conduct flight planning, ensure regulatory compliance, and release flights under FAR 135 with all required paperwork.

The role emphasizes airworthiness, risk assessment, and strong CRM across diverse environments. The ideal candidate holds an ATP (MEL), First Class Medical, and substantial PIC hours, including multi-engine turboprop experience.

Qualifications

• Total PIC hours: 1,500+; multi-engine PIC 500+ hours.
• Requires FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (MEL).
• Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
• U.S. Passport with at least 6 months validity.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Pilot in Command for OCONUS missions; ensure safe, compliant operations.
• Conduct comprehensive flight planning: profile, terrain, weather, range, weight/balance, facilities, nav-aids.
• Prepare and release flights under FAR 135 with all required docs onboard.
• Verify airworthiness and inspections; resolve discrepancies; perform preflight and risk assessments.
• Execute flights per SOPs, customer requirements, FAA/DCMA regulations, flight plans, schedules.
• Lead CRM: brief crew on changes, payloads, aircraft status, env conditions.
• Communicate with customers, maintenance, leadership; maintain flight and mission records.
• Report per SMS; complete training, proficiency checks, and recurrent evaluations.

Core responsibilities

• Serve as Pilot in Command for OCONUS missions, ensuring safe, compliant operations in international, austere, and remote environments.
• Conduct comprehensive flight planning: mission profile, terrain/altitudes, weather, range, weight/balance, airport facilities, and nav-aids.
• Prepare and release flights under FAR 135 with all legally required documentation onboard.
• Verify airworthiness: confirm required inspections, resolve discrepancies or defer per MEL, and perform thorough preflight and risk assessments.
• Execute flights per company SOPs, customer requirements, FAA/DCMA regulations, approved flight plans, and schedules.
• Lead effective CRM: brief crew on plan changes, payload/passenger updates, aircraft status, and environmental conditions.
• Communicate proactively with customers, maintenance, and leadership; maintain accurate flight, aircraft, and mission records.
• Report per SMS requirements; complete training, proficiency checks, and recurrent evaluations as scheduled.

Minimum qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (MEL), unrestricted or restricted.
• Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
• Current U.S. Passport with at least 6 months validity.
• PIC Hours: 1,500+ total PIC.
• Multi-Engine PIC: 500+ hours.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
• Thorough knowledge of FAA and DCMA regulations and Part 135/8210.1D operations.
• Demonstrated ADM and risk-management skills; strong CRM and leadership.
• Clear, professional communicator; proficient with aircraft navigation systems and flight-planning software.
• Proven ability to operate safely in austere/international environments and collaborate effectively with customers, crew, maintenance, and leadership.

Preferred experience

• 3,000+ hours total time.
• 1,200+ hours multi-engine turbine.
• Previous DHC-8 experience.
• Part 135 operational experience.
• Aerial-delivery experience.
• NVG operations experience.
• Prior support of U.S. Government contracts in OCONUS or austere environments.

Deployment & training

• International travel and extended deployments with irregular duty schedules.
• Compliance with customer-specific medical, security, and deployment requirements.
• Ongoing training, proficiency checks, and recurrent evaluations to maintain currency and mission readiness.
