Position: DevSecOps Lead / Architect / System Architect

Work location: Remote (on-premises for some meetings in Frankfort, KY)

Job Description

System Architect to oversee the Division’s application and system development implementation design efforts. The candidate will collaborate with project managers, developers, and business analysts to oversee the design and architecture of new applications and provide guidance to enhance existing applications. Recommendations on updating and upgrading databases and data are also expected.

Familiarity with IRS Publication 1075 and NIST 800-53 requirements, especially systems handling Federal Tax Information, is a plus. This is a long-term, multi-year role with an immediate filling intent.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to DevSecOps and Zero Trust methodologies.
• Modernize application development using segmentation, containerization, microservices, and Zero Trust principles.
• Design and create end-to-end systems following modern coding standards, collaborating with subject matter experts.
• Maintain standards for system consistency and compliance across teams.
• Standardize system design and data structures supported by DOR.
• Collaborate with development teams and vendors to architect secure, well-documented applications.
• Improve data import/export processes.
• Review and optimize database structures and performance.
• Mentor junior developers and database administrators.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, driving successful application development.

Required Skillsets

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in DevSecOps application development.
• 5 years’ experience designing cloud-native systems on Kubernetes.
• Experience with Zero Trust Security models.
• Designing shared services and secure, compliant solutions.
• Experience managing multiple systems simultaneously.
• Knowledge of IT systems for tax processing and administration is a plus.
