The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team:
Reporting to Digital Solutions Architecture (DSA), this Sr Principal Architect will be responsible for enabling RTX synergy targets by providing well-defined and compliant “Information Technology” solution architectures. The candidate will be responsible for shaping IT solutions across an array of core enterprise level applications as well as business specific capabilities that may span our three businesses including Raytheon, Pratt & Whitney, and Collins Aerospace and corporate functions.
Overall Responsibility:
Viewed as a technical leader in the organization, this individual will develop and deliver enterprise level solution architecture. They will be expected to help drive vision, strategy and anticipate problems leading to risk and deliver on best practice solutions for the Information Technology function. They will participate in establishing enterprise-wide IT policy and help to set technology standards across multiple IT domains. At times, provide mentorship for the architecture community. The individual anticipates IT industry directions as they relate to future architecture needs and project solutions. Remains continuously aware of business, technical, applications, information management, security and infrastructure best practices and acts as a consultant to aid in the development of creative solutions.
This individual will be part of a team that is responsible for a segment of the overall Enterprise Architecture program, covering the applications architecture discipline. This will require subject matter expertise in applications technologies and the ability to provide actionable guidance to the solutions architecture teams across the organization.
The position requires strong communication skills as the individual will have direct engagement with senior functional leaders as well as internal partners and in some cases external entities, vendors, and business partners. The individual will need to have or develop a deep understanding of the company’s structure, business units, functional organizations, and global business services. Experience working with RTX business units, functional organizations, and enterprise services is a plus.
What You Will Do:
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously with a focus on developing and implementing solution architecture.
- Lead and foster extensive enterprise-wide collaboration to leverage IT solutions architecture for a competitive advantage.
- Integrate emerging technologies into the application architecture to create solutions that reduce complexity.
- Participate in defining logical reference architectures, best practices, patterns, maturity models, and roadmaps.
- Guide and collaborate with technical architecture groups and communities of practice, and effectively communicate, socialize, and educate key stakeholders on the strategies and usage of application architecture efforts.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Enterprise Architecture or related Computer Science field with at least 10 years or a Master's degree with 8 years of experience in information technology, systems architecture, systems design, and/or systems engineering.
- Have a proven track record in developing, delivering, and supporting enterprise-scale applications.
- Understanding and application of architecture frameworks and methods (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, DoDAF, SAFe Architect); certifications are highly advantageous.
- Experience in migrating on-premises applications/infrastructure to the cloud (AWS/Azure).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to debate, negotiate, influence, and collaborate effectively within a complex enterprise environment.
Qualification We Prefer:
- Architecture certifications (e.g. RTX Certified Architect - RCAP, TOGAF, Zachman)
- ITIL Certification
- Project Management Experience & Certification (e.g. PMP)

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
