A leading technology company is seeking a Principal Architect to drive the modernization of its SaaS product suite. This remote position involves collaborating with engineering teams and defining technical strategies for scalable solutions. Candidates should have extensive experience in software architecture, microservices, and cloud technologies.
Principal Architect, UKG Kronos Systems, LLC, Lowell, Massachusetts (Remote)
Will work as a member of a Software Engineering team at the forefront of driving the architecture modernization of our Software as a Service (“SaaS”) based product suite. Will participate in designing a next generation microservices platform and driving the implementation of cloud best practices while serving as a member of the Software Engineering organization and the Software Architecture community with oversight on projects and a focus on design, integration, and technical strategies that will help establish the technical vision for the future scale of our Platform Services. Specific duties will include:
• Collaborating with Software Engineering Leadership to define and understand the business requirements tied to critical business strategic goals.
• Understanding business needs, company's products, and services and matching them with best-in-class technology to define the target state.
• Understanding customer pain-points and coming up with resilient, scalable & future-proof solutions to address them.
• Acting as a liaison between Engineering & Value-stream teams to help embrace best practices for existing service integrations across various UKG products.
• Partnering with service architects to make architectural decisions, design technical strategies, and effectively communicate the strategies that need to be adopted.
• Architecting net-new solutions and leading the development of proofs-of-concepts in collaboration with development teams.
• Working on application & REST API development using Microservices, Java & Spring boot as well as with Containerization platforms like Docker, Kubernetes & Helm.
• Creating Continuous Delivery & DevOps pipelines using Infrastructure automation tools like Ansible & Terraform.
• Evaluating existing solution offerings and come up with effective migration strategies to migrate customers from legacy platforms to UKG’s suite-wide offerings seamlessly.
• Clearly articulating technical software architecture including current and future state diagrams, solution best practices, reference architectures, and design patterns.
• Collaborating with and mentoring software development teams and technical leads to design and deliver functional, scalable, resilient, adaptable, performant, and cloud-native software products and services.
• Conducting architecture workshops and other enablement sessions and lead key discussions to define target state architecture.
• Building and maintaining partnerships and collaborative work with the external community, occasionally speaking in conferences, and participating in submission of patents as needed.
Requirements:
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Information Technology or a closely related field and 7 years of experience as a Software Developer.Must also have 5 years of experience (which can have been gained concurrently with the primary experience requirement) working with the following:
• Software Architecture for enterprise-level applications and systems including large scale distributed systems and architecture of cloud native services in at least one major cloud provider (GCP, AWS or Azure);
• Security, reliability, scalability, high availability, and concurrency architectural patterns for Application development using Microservices, Java & Spring boot framework;
• Prototype and create POCs for existing services to prove out new frameworks / technologies along with providing backward compatibility;
• Relational and non-relational database technologies (either SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or Cassandra); and
• Creating Continuous Delivery & DevOps pipelines using Ansible and Terraform and working with containerization/orchestration technologies including Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.
This is a telecommuting position working from home.May reside anywhere in the United States.
