Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) invites undergraduates to join the Summer DevOps Internship Program. Interns will work on practical research, supporting DevOps and platform engineering, including containerization, CI/CD automation, and cloud-native deployments.

Positions may be hybrid, with some days on site at LLNL and some remotely; interns will gain experience with large language model deployments, web services, and production software operations.

Qualifications

• Continuing college student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, or related STEM with GPA 3.0+.
• Eligible to access LLNL facilities and able to undergo NDAA background checks if required.
• Experience with Git, containerization, Kubernetes, and CI/CD is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply fundamentals of Git, containerization, CI/CD, and Kubernetes-based deployment.
• Contribute to DevOps and platform engineering projects including web services and infrastructure automation.
• Assist with deploying and testing large language models and data services.
• Develop automation tools, deployment workflows, monitoring practices, and operational documentation.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and lifecycle activities.
• Present work through presentations and/or poster sessions.
• Attend seminars at least weekly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
