Job summary

eShepherd is transforming livestock management through virtual fencing technology. We are seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to scale our IoT platform across regions and support production systems at global scale.

You’ll own cloud infrastructure, implement IaC, optimize MySQL performance, and drive reliability, observability, and CI/CD across time zones, partnering with R&D teams in New Zealand and Australia.

Qualifications

• Strong AWS experience with ECS/EKS/RDS and MySQL knowledge.
• Proficient DevOps and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Experience supporting production systems at scale across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Scale cloud infrastructure and AWS services for a global IoT platform.
• Optimize database performance, especially MySQL.
• Ensure platform reliability, observability, and incident response.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and automation.

We're looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to help scale the technology behind one of the world's most exciting AgTech platforms.

eShepherd is transforming livestock management through virtual fencing technology. With deployments across 20+ countries and rapid growth throughout North America, we're building a platform that must perform at scale, across regions, and in some of the world's most challenging environments.

This isn't a maintenance role.

You’ll help shape the future architecture of a rapidly growing IoT platform, tackling challenges across:

• Cloud infrastructure and AWS scalability
• Database performance and optimisation
• Platform reliability and observability
• DevOps, CI/CD and automation
• Capacity planning and future architecture
• Global platform growth

You’ll be the North American engineering presence, partnering closely with our R&D teams in New Zealand and Australia while supporting a platform used by farmers and ranchers around the world.

What we're looking for

• Strong AWS infrastructure experience (ECS, EKS, RDS)
• Deep MySQL and database optimisation expertise
• DevOps and Infrastructure as Code experience
• Performance tuning, monitoring and incident response capability
• Experience supporting production systems at scale
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work across time zones
• Curiosity, initiative and a data-driven approach to problem solving
