Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Device and Process Development Intern in Richardson, TX. The internship offers hands-on wafer-level process development, exposure to lithography, etch, and related semiconductor processes, and mentorship from industry experts.

Applicants are pursuing MS or PhD in engineering or related fields with a 3.0+ GPA and strong problem-solving abilities; VISA sponsorship is not offered. Pay ranges between $29 and $49 per hour with multiple learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing MS or PhD in engineering or related fields.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Hands-on with clean room work and problem-solving.
• Exposure to GaN/GaAs processing and device work preferred.
• Experience with standard semiconductor processing (PVD, CVD, lithography, etch, CMP).
• Strong written and verbal communication, well-organized.

Responsibilities

• Operate semiconductor fabrication equipment to develop wafer-level processes.
• Troubleshoot processes and optimize recipes, preferably photolithography.
• Design and run fab engineering trials.
• Contribute on projects in Photo lithography, Electroplating, plasma etch, and Dry/Wet Etch.
• Analyze data using JMP, Spotfire, or Excel.

Skyworks' Device and Process Development Internships are offered in our High Performance Analog business group. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship by the company.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on operation of semiconductor fabrication equipment to develop sophisticated wafer-level processes
• Process troubleshooting and recipe optimization, preferably in photolithography area.
• Experimental design and execution of a fab engineering trial
• One or more projects in areas involving Photo lithography, Electroplating, plasma etch, and Dry/Wet Etch.
• Data analysis using software such as JMP, Spotfire, or Excel

Required Experience and Skills

• Currently pursuing a MS, PhD (PhD preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related fields
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Self-starter with good problem-solving skills and interests for hands‑on work in a clean room facility
• Exposure of GaN or GaAs processing and device preferred
• Semiconductor coursework and/or experience, including standard processing techniques (PVD, CVD, lithography, dry/wet etch, CMP)
• Self-Starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $23.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
