Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. invites motivated students pursuing MS or PhD to join its Device and Process Development Internship program.

You will gain hands-on experience in semiconductor fabrication, exposed to upper management, and contribute to real projects in a fast-paced setting. Projects span photolithography, plasma etch, electroplating, and data analysis with JMP or Spotfire; interns receive mentoring, training, and opportunities for full-time roles after completion.

Qualifications

• Pursuing MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related fields.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA requirement is expected.
• Self-starter with hands-on, problem-solving mindset for clean room work.
• Exposure to GaN or GaAs processing preferred.
• Semiconductor processing coursework (PVD, CVD, lithography, dry/wet etch, CMP).

Responsibilities

• Operate semiconductor fabrication equipment to develop wafer-level processes.
• Troubleshoot and optimize recipes, preferably in photolithography.
• Design and execute fab engineering trials.
• Work on projects involving photolithography, electroplating, plasma etch, and dry/wet etch.
• Analyze data using JMP, Spotfire, or Excel.

Skyworks' Internship Program is designed for college students currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program. Skyworks offers real work experience, exposure to upper management, and the opportunity to pursue full-time opportunities, as available.

Skyworks' Device and Process Development Internships are offered in our High Performance Analog business group. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship by the company.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on operation of semiconductor fabrication equipment to develop sophisticated wafer-level processes
• Process troubleshooting and recipe optimization, preferably in photolithography area.
• Experimental design and execution of a fab engineering trial
• One or more projects in areas involving Photo lithography, Electroplating, plasma etch, and Dry/Wet Etch.
• Data analysis using software such as JMP, Spotfire, or Excel

Required Experience And Skills

• Currently pursuing a MS, PhD (PhD preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related fields
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Self-starter with good problem-solving skills and interests for hands-on work in a clean room facility
• Exposure of GaN or GaAs processing and device preferred
• Semiconductor coursework and/or experience, including standard processing techniques (PVD, CVD, lithography, dry/wet etch, CMP)
• Self-Starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desired Experience And Skills

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $29.00 - $49.00 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $23.00 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
