The City of Virginia Beach Development Services Center (DSC) is seeking a DSC Project Coordinator II to join our Planning and Community Development team. Qualifications

Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to six years in civil engineering, urban planning, or development project management/coordination.
Overtime may be required to meet department needs or City emergencies.
Familiarity with City development ordinances and processes is essential.

Responsibilities

Manage the City’s review and issue city approvals for private land development projects (e.g., site plans, subdivisions, multifamily plans).
Facilitate project meetings with developers, design consultants and city staff.
Provide leadership, guidance and training to the City’s review team and customers.
Communicate development requirements and review comments clearly in writing and verbally.
Oversee development processes from pre-submittal to permitting, inspection, and bond phases.
Understand and interpret City Development Ordinances and Policies and changes.
Identify process improvements and participate in implementing them.
Occasional site visits may be required to address construction or design issues.
Provide professional and courteous customer service.
