Job summary

Second Helpings is seeking a Development Operations Manager to oversee grants management, Salesforce administration, gift processing, and donor stewardship. You will supervise the Development Coordinator and help optimize workflows in a growing nonprofit.

The role requires strong organizational skills, experience with development data and reporting, and the ability to collaborate across departments while embracing change and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of five years of experience in development operations, fundraising operations, or nonprofit administration.
• Demonstrated experience working with Salesforce; Salesforce administration experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing donor databases and development data, including data entry, reporting, list management, and data integrity.
• Experience managing grants, grant calendars, proposal/report processes, and grant records; experience with grant writing and reporting preferred.
• Experience supervising, training, or managing staff, with the ability to provide clear direction and effective support.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong proofreading and editing abilities.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
• High level of attention to detail and demonstrated commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to analyze processes, identify problems, and develop practical, solutions‑oriented improvements.
• Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly and effectively.
• Ability to work independently, follow directions, exercise good judgment, and take initiative.
• Strong customer service skills and a positive, professional approach to working with colleagues and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee grants management and administration, including proposal development, reporting, calendars and documentation.
• Serve as Salesforce Administrator; manage system for all operations and donor management.
• Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and lists for mailings and donor communications.
• Develop and maintain Salesforce functionality to support team needs and workflows.
• Train staff in Salesforce functionality, data practices, and development processes; troubleshoot issues.
• Coordinate with external resources as needed; evaluate Salesforce practices for improvements.
• Oversee day‑to‑day development operations, including gift processing, donor stewardship, mailings, and prospect management.
• Supervise the Development Coordinator and provide direction and feedback.
• Establish and optimize development SOPs, workflows, and systems; support leadership with reporting.
• Provide tours of Second Helpings as needed.
