Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Arts Management, Communications, Writing, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum of three years of nonprofit fundraising and grant writing experience, with demonstrated success developing and securing competitive grant proposals.
  • Demonstrated success securing significant corporate, foundation, and/or government funding, including grants or sponsorships of $50,000 or more.
  • Proven track record of developing donor and funder relationships and achieving established fundraising goals.
  • Experience cultivating and soliciting corporate, foundation, and government funders, including direct engagement with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated interest in or commitment to the performing arts and Confluence Theater’s mission preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve or exceed annual corporate, foundation, and government fundraising goals in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Identify, research, and cultivate new corporate, foundation, and government funding opportunities while strengthening relationships with existing institutional funders.
  • Develop and maintain an active pipeline of institutional prospects and funding opportunities using grant research tools, databases, and professional resources, while maintaining a comprehensive calendar of proposal, renewal, and reporting deadlines.
  • Manage the full grant lifecycle, from prospect identification and qualification through proposal development, writing, submission, award administration, and required reporting.
  • Collaborate across Revenue and Advancement, Artistic, Education, and Finance teams, as well as with volunteers, the Development Committee, and Board of Trustees, to develop compelling proposals, sponsorship opportunities, budgets, financial reports, and other funder materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with program officers, corporate partners, current funders, and prospective funders to cultivate and maximize financial support.
  • Ensure timely and accurate acknowledgment, administration, tracking, and reporting of corporate sponsorships, institutional gifts, and government and foundation grants.
  • Develop and recommend corporate sponsorship opportunities and programs, manage sponsor benefit tracking and fulfillment, and identify opportunities for matching gifts, in-kind contributions, and other forms of corporate support.
  • Evaluate funding outcomes and identify opportunities to strengthen future proposals, cultivation strategies, and overall fundraising effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate institutional giving records, prospect activity, funding opportunities, and related documentation within Tessitura and other applicable systems.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of Development regarding the institutional giving pipeline, applications, awards, upcoming deadlines, and fundraising performance.
  • Maintain high ethical and professional standards and ensure fundraising, grant administration, and reporting activities comply with organizational policies, funder requirements, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

About the Role

Confluence Theater of Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced and relationship-driven Development Manager, Corporate & Institutional to join our Advancement and Revenue team. This role is ideal for a fundraising professional who enjoys building meaningful funder relationships, developing compelling proposals, and identifying new opportunities to advance an organization’s mission.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Manager, Corporate & Institutional is responsible for advancing Confluence Theater’s fundraising goals by cultivating corporate and institutional funding opportunities and developing sponsorship and grant proposals. This position collaborates across Executive Leadership, Revenue and Advancement, Artistic, Education, Finance, volunteers, the Development Committee, and the Board of Trustees to align funder interests with the organization’s immediate and long-term priorities.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days onsite in Pittsburgh.

Essential Responsibilities
