Job summary

City of Pflugerville seeks a Development Engineering Assistant Director to direct the Development Engineering Division, ensuring subdivisions, utility projects, and site developments comply with city standards and ordinances. The role provides leadership to engineers and inspectors and engages with city management, developers, consultants, and the public.

The position requires a PE in Texas, 7+ years of civil engineering experience (municipal preferred), and strong decision-making,

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
7+ years of civil engineering experience, municipal/local government preferred.
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas.

Responsibilities

Directs and manages Development Engineering Division operations to ensure compliance with city standards and ordinances.
Oversees development review activities, engineering coordination, and implementation of city development policies.
Supervises engineering staff and inspectors; participates in hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
Coordinates with internal departments, developers, consultants, and outside agencies to ensure timely project review and approval.
Makes technical engineering decisions on development standards, construction requirements, and infrastructure design.
Represents the department at council meetings and other public or professional forums.
