Job summary

Upstart, a leading AI lending marketplace, seeks a Software Engineer II for the Developer Platform team. You will build and operate CI/CD infrastructure, ephemeral environments, and developer tooling to help engineers ship code quickly and confidently.

You’ll work with Kubernetes, AWS, and AI-assisted development tools to deliver scalable production-like environments and self-service capabilities across the engineering org.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/engineering/math or equivalent and 3 years of software experience.
• Experience developing production software using general-purpose languages.
• Experience designing, building, testing, and operating production software or infrastructure.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, CI systems, and developer tooling.
• Experience delivering well-scoped software projects from design to production.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools across the lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve services, infrastructure, and tooling powering CI, ephemerals, and automated testing.
• Develop scalable Kubernetes- and AWS-based capabilities for self-service prod-like environments.
• Create shared infrastructure for test execution, orchestration, and environment setup.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Replace manual workflows with reusable APIs and automation.
• Leverage AI to enhance developer productivity across Upstart.
