Job summary

Connect-Force in Metro Detroit is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to bridge engineering and customer needs, translating requirements into technical concepts and compelling proposals for automated machinery and manufacturing systems.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and project management, present solutions to customers, identify risks and cost-saving opportunities, and help move projects from concept to handoff in a dynamic, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Applications Engineer, Proposal Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer or similar.
• Experience with industrial machinery, automated equipment, machine tools or custom manufacturing systems.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Understand customer manufacturing needs, technical specs and project goals.
• Review RFQs and drawings to determine project requirements.
• Develop technical concepts and equipment solutions for automated machinery.
• Prepare proposals, quotations, and project scopes.
• Estimate engineering hours, labor and materials.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and project management teams.
• Present concepts and proposals to customers during the sales process.
• Identify risks and cost-saving opportunities before project award.
• Support sales presentations and customer meetings.
• Build strong customer relationships as a trusted technical resource.
• Occasionally visit customer sites and industry events.
