Rockwall County Sheriff's Office in Rockwall, TX is seeking a Detention Officer to provide custodial care and maintain safety for inmates in the Rockwall County Detention Center. You will process inmates, conduct searches, manage records, and ensure security is not breached.

The role involves monitoring control room cameras, aiding in inmate transport, and supervising visitation. Requires adherence to jail standards and completion of licensing courses within one year of employment.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old at employment.
High school diploma or GED required.
U.S. citizen with a clean background.
Texas driver’s license required.
No felonies or disqualifying misdemeanors.
Must be able to obtain/maintain TCOLE licensing.
12-hour rotating shifts (7:00-19:00 and 19:00-07:00).
Good communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain peace and security inside the jail; process inmates in/out; inspect for contraband.
Search and fingerprint prisoners; ensure medical care for inmate health needs.
Train and evaluate staff as needed.
Monitor security cameras and control room operations; log movements; conduct rounds.
Escort inmates to court and appointments; manage inmate records and property.
