Job summary

Qualifications

• Education, Experience and Training: Graduation from High School/GED or 12 college hours with a C or better.
• Must pass polygraph, psychological exam and background check; on-the-job training.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work with diverse teams and the public.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial search, confiscation and inventory of items; fingerprinting and processing into housing or release.
• Handcuff and escort inmates to/from arraignments.
• Classify fingerprints to establish inmate identification.
• Manage inmate clothing, bedding, and transfer to court or release.
• Release and exchange money and property with third parties outside the jail.
• Monitor inmate behavior and conduct head counts.
• Operate doors and elevators to maximize safety and security.
• Supervise meals, laundry, clothing, and sanitation within the facility.
• Provide kitchen security during food preparation and transport.
• Escort inmates to law library, recreation, visitation; verify visitors.
• Inspect inmate mail for contraband prior to delivery.
• Operate emergency equipment and conduct searches for contraband.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
