Job summary

Garlandtx is seeking a detention officer to detain and process arrested persons, ensuring the welfare and rights of inmates during confinement. The position emphasizes basic knowledge of constitutional rights and detainment policies, with training provided as needed.

Responsibilities include meal service, medical items distribution, and payment processing for bonds and fines, plus preparing arraignment packets for the judge.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• No experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

• Process, detain and release arrested persons including juveniles, while maintaining the welfare and security of the prisoners and staff.
• Prepare and serve meals to prisoners, provide personal health care items and dispense medications as needed and appropriate.
• Monitor the security of the Detention Center, including monitoring security cameras, unlocked doors and gates inside and outside.
• Process and collect payments for bonds, fines, and other charges.
• Prepare arraignment packets for the judge.
