Job summary

Coconino County Sheriff's Office (Patrol) is seeking a food service professional to prepare and serve meals to inmates, while supervising inmates in food preparation and maintaining kitchen security.

The role requires shift and weekend work, with responsibilities including supervising inmates, ensuring food safety and inventory accuracy, and coordinating with dieticians for special diets. Prior kitchen supervisory experience is preferred, with emphasis on large-volume operations.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in food preparation, serving and cooking in volume or equivalent combination of education/training/experience.
• Must acquire Food Manager's Certificate within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plans, purchases, prepares and serves inmate meals.
• Trains, supervises 10 to 12 inmates in food preparation, safety and policies for 400–600 inmates.
• Inspects and ensures the quality and quantity of food.
• Supervises and assists in cleaning kitchen and serving areas.
• Prepares reports and maintains records and inventories.
• Maintains compliance with food handling policies and procedures.
• Maintains a positive work environment with inmates.
• Keeps food costs within budget.
• Consults with dieticians, nutritionists, and medical staff for special diets.
